WhatsApp’s latest update has introduced a new typing bubble feature, replacing the familiar “typing…” indicator with an animated speech bubble.
This change has sparked a wave of discontent among users, who find the new feature distracting and unnecessary. The animated bubble appears below the most recent message, similar to the typing animation IOS users experience in Apple’s iMessage. Many users have taken to social media to express their frustration, describing the feature as “annoying” and “anxiety-inducing“.
Despite the backlash, WhatsApp, owned by Meta, has not yet provided an official statement addressing the concern. This change, which is likely to be rolled out to all users in the coming days, marks another shift in the app’s interface. Although the update may be intended to improve the user experience, the overwhelming response indicates that a large number of WhatsApp users are not impressed.
