Sindh Food Authority DG Transfer

In a surprising move, the Sindh government has transferred the Director General (DG) of the Sindh Food Authority (SFA), Muzamil Hussain Halepoto, without providing any reason. The announcement was made through a notification issued by the Services, General Administration & Coordination Department (SGA&CD).

Sindh Food Authority DG Transfer

Muzamil Hussain Halepoto, an officer of the Pakistan Administrative Service (PAS), has been directed to report to the SGA&CD immediately. He has been replaced by Khalid Mehmood Shaikh, who is currently serving as the Food Secretary and CEO of the Sindh Peoples Housing for Flood Affectees. Khalid Mehmood Shaikh will serve as the acting DG of the SFA until a permanent appointment is made.

Officials have not provided any specific reason for Halepoto’s transfer, which comes just four months after his appointment. Some sources suggest that the transfer may be related to his ongoing operations against the sale of loose oil and hazardous milk.

During his tenure, Halepoto imposed and recovered fines totaling Rs 890 million on violators. Before his appointment, only Rs 160 million in fines had been recovered between 2023 and 2024.

This unexpected transfer has raised questions and speculations about the reasons behind the decision. The Sindh government has yet to provide an official explanation for the move.
