In a bid to tackle the persistent smog problem, the Punjab government has presented new rules for school buses to the Lahore High Court. These proposed regulations aim to reduce pollution and improve air quality in the region.

School Bus Rules for Smog Prevention

The key points of the proposed rules include exemptions for schools located in narrow streets and neighborhoods, as well as schools charging fees below Rs 4,000. These institutions will not be required to use school buses. However, schools that do not comply with the bus-related rules will face a fine of Rs 50,000.

Additionally, the Lahore Development Authority (LDA) has proposed a traffic management plan for Multan Road. This plan includes closing U-turns that cause traffic congestion, which is expected to ease traffic and reduce emissions.

The Lahore High Court appreciated the government’s efforts to address traffic issues and reduce pollution. The court acknowledged the importance of these measures in combating smog and improving the quality of life for residents.

The case will continue next week for further proceedings, as the court reviews the proposed rules and their potential impact on reducing smog in the region.
