The State Bank of Pakistan (SBP) will introduce new currency notes in 2025. SBP Governor Jameel Ahmad confirmed that the new notes will be rolled out gradually, with each denomination being introduced one by one. The new designs aim to enhance security features and align with international standards.
The SBP conducted an art competition to gather innovative design ideas for the new notes. A committee of experts selected the winning designs, which will be finalized in collaboration with international designers. The new notes will feature updated designs and improved security features to prevent counterfeiting.
The central bank is also working on launching a digital currency in the future. The SBP is building its technological and regulatory capabilities to support this initiative. The introduction of new currency notes and the potential launch of digital currency are part of the SBP’s efforts to modernize Pakistan’s financial system and enhance the integrity of its currency.
