Ruby Dhalla, a former Member of Parliament (MP) for Canada, has officially entered the race to become the leader of the Liberal Party. If elected, she aims to become the country’s first prime minister of color. Dhalla’s tough stance on illegal immigration has drawn comparisons to former US President Donald Trump, earning her the nickname “female Donald Trump”.
Dhalla represented the Brampton-Springdale constituency from 2004 to 2011 and was one of the first Sikh women to serve in the House of Commons of Canada. She has promised to deport illegal immigrants and clamp down on human trafficking if elected. Her campaign focuses on engaging a new demographic of Canadians and revitalizing the Liberal Party.
