Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif has launched the first nationwide anti-polio drive of 2025. The campaign, running from February 3 to 9, aims to vaccinate millions of children under the age of five across Pakistan. During the launch ceremony, PM Shehbaz administered polio drops to children and reaffirmed his government’s commitment to eradicating polio from the country.
The Prime Minister acknowledged the challenges faced last year, with 77 polio cases reported, but noted that only one case has been recorded in 2025. He expressed confidence in the dedication of health teams and the support of international partners, including WHO, UNICEF, the Bill & Melinda Gates Foundation, and Saudi Arabia, in achieving the goal of a polio-free Pakistan.
