Petrol prices in Pakistan are set to rise starting December 1, 2024, following a slight increase in international oil prices over the last 12 days. It is expected to go up by Rs3 per litre, while diesel prices are projected to increase by Rs2.87 per litre. This means the new petrol price is estimated to be Rs251.38 per litre, up from the current Rs248.38 per litre. Similarly, diesel prices are anticipated to reach Rs258.01 per litre, up from Rs255.14 per litre.
(OGRA) is expected to present its final recommendations to the government on November 30, 2024. The Ministry of Finance will then consult with the Prime Minister before finalizing the new prices. A formal notification reflecting these changes will be issued after receiving the Prime Minister’s approval.
However, the federal government kept the prices of petrol and high-speed diesel unchanged based on international market trends. However, the upcoming increase underscores the ongoing difficulties in balancing fiscal requirements with economic stability.
