The Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) has conditionally agreed to the hybrid model for hosting the 2025 ICC Champions Trophy.
Under the hybrid model, Pakistan has proposed that its matches against India be played at neutral venues. Dubai has been suggested as a potential location for these matches during the 2029 Champions Trophy
The PCB has demanded that the hybrid model be applied to all ICC events hosted in India until 2031. This includes the 2026 T20 World Cup, the 2029 Champions Trophy, and the 2031 ICC Men’s Cricket World Cup
The PCB has requested an increased share of the ICC’s annual revenue. This demand is aimed at ensuring that Pakistan receives a fair financial return for hosting the prestigious tournament
The acceptance of the hybrid model could pave the way for future cricket tournaments with more balanced hosting arrangements. It also highlights the ongoing tensions and complexities in cricket diplomacy between India and Pakistan
