The Pakistani government is planning to launch a new messaging app called “Beep Pakistan” because of ongoing internet problems in the country. This app is designed to provide a secure and reliable way for government officials and employees to communicate. Eventually, it will be available to everyone.
The idea for Beep Pakistan was first announced in August 2023 by the then-Minister of IT, Syed Aminul Haque. The app aims to ensure data privacy and protection, addressing concerns about the security of existing messaging platforms like WhatsApp. Beep Pakistan will offer features such as encrypted messaging, audio and video calls, conference calls for up to 200 participants, and document sharing.
The launch of Beep Pakistan comes at a time when Pakistanis have been facing many internet problems, including issues with social media platforms and slow internet speeds. These problems have raised concerns about the reliability of internet services in the country. The government is working to improve security measures and ensure stable communication channels for government officials.
The app will first be used by government departments, with plans to expand its use to the general public in the future. This initiative is part of the government’s broader strategy to improve digital infrastructure and ensure secure communication in the face of ongoing internet challenges.
