Lahore has started a new project to create separate lanes for bicycles and motorcycles on its roads. This initiative, led by Punjab Chief Minister Maryam Nawaz, aims to modernize traffic standards and improve safety for cyclists and motorcyclists.
The Lahore Development Authority (LDA) has launched a pilot project to designate separate lanes for bicycles and motorcycles. The first phase of this project includes the construction of bike lanes on Ferozepur Road and Canal Road, extending to Lahore Bridge.
The bike lanes will cover a total of 10 kilometers and will be painted in a vibrant green color for better visibility. This is expected to reduce traffic accidents and improve the flow of traffic.
Chief Minister Maryam Nawaz has instructed that the construction standards for these bike lanes be of the highest quality to ensure the safety and convenience of cyclists and motorcyclists. This step is part of the government’s broader efforts to enhance urban infrastructure and ensure safer roads for all commuters.
The government aims to encourage more people to use these eco-friendly modes of transport.
