Imran khan arrested in terrorism case

imran khan arrested again

Former prime minister and PTI founder, Imran Khan, has been arrested in another terrorism case registered at New Town Police Station in Rawalpindi.

This follows his recent bail approval in the Toshakhana case by the Islamabad High Court, Express News reported

Former Pakistani Prime Minister Imran Khan was recently granted bail in one of his corruption cases, known as “Toshakhana 2.0,” where he and his wife were accused of misusing state gifts.

However, his release has been blocked due to several other pending cases, including charges linked to the violent protests on May 9, 2023.

These protests erupted after his earlier arrest and were marked by significant damage to public and military property.

Imran Khan faces over 60 cases registered in Islamabad and 54 in Punjab, ranging from corruption to sedition. His bail rejections in some cases and approvals in others reflect the complex and contentious nature of his legal challenges.

Imran’s legal troubles have become a flashpoint in Pakistan’s deeply divided political landscape.

While his allies see his legal issues as a tactic to suppress opposition, his critics believe these cases expose misuse of power during his tenure as prime minister.
