The Punjab Health Department recently discovered a large operation selling fake medicines through WhatsApp groups.
They conducted raids in cities like Lahore, Multan, and Dera Ghazi Khan, finding counterfeit medicines such as anesthesia injections, cough syrups, and skin creams.
In Lahore, they found fake anesthesia injections being made in the Gulberg area.
In Multan, they seized hundreds of bottles of fake cough syrups.
Several pharmacies in Dera Ghazi Khan and Lahore were shut down, and legal action was taken against those involved, people behind this admitted to using WhatsApp to sell these fake medicines.
Punjab Health Minister Khawaja Imran Nazir mentioned that they are also inspecting licensed pharmaceutical companies to ensure they follow proper manufacturing practices.
