According to the latest data from the Pakistan Bureau of Statistics (PBS), the price of chicken meat in Lahore has dropped by Rs15, now fixed at Rs453 per kilogram compared to Rs468 per kilogram on Thursday.
Similarly, the price of live broiler chicken has decreased by Rs10, now selling at Rs299 per kilogram in the wholesale market and Rs313 per kilogram in the retail market.
This decrease in chicken prices is part of a broader trend of declining inflation in the region.
The Sensitive Price Index (SPI) based inflation for the week ended November 28, 2024, decreased by 0.03 percent. During this period, out of 51 items, prices of 12 items increased, 9 items decreased, and 30 items remained stable. This trend is expected to provide some financial relief to consumers, especially as the cost of living continues to be a concern for many households. n addition to chicken, the prices of other essential items have also seen a decline. For instance, the price of tomatoes decreased by 2.23 percent, pulse gram by 1.60 percent, and rice basmati broken by 1.15 percent
The Pakistan Poultry Association has noted that the low demand in the market has compelled poultry owners to decrease prices.
