The Bill Gates Foundation’s health project in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa (KP) might end soon. The project aims to build 15 health centers in areas with high polio risk. The foundation has been running temporary health centers in rented buildings since 2020. They promised to cover all costs until December 2025.
However, the project is facing delays because the Local Government Department has not provided the necessary land and No Objection Certificates (NOCs). Four sites have been identified, but the land and NOCs are still pending. If the land is not secured by March, the project might be canceled.
The Health Secretary, Adeel Shah, said that efforts are being made to resolve the issue and complete the project on time. The health centers are crucial for protecting children from polio and improving healthcare in the region.
The Bill Gates Foundation’s health initiative has been very important for healthcare in KP. If the project ends, it could have serious consequences for public health in the area.
