Azhar Ali Appointed as PCB Head of Youth Development

Former Pakistan cricket team captain Azhar Ali has been appointed as the Head of Youth Development at the Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB).

This role is an extension of his current responsibilities, as he also serves as a member of the Men’s National Selection Committee.

The PCB confirmed his appointment following a rigorous recruitment process, entrusting him with the responsibility of nurturing the next generation of cricketing talent in Pakistan

Azhar Ali’s cricketing journey is nothing short of iconic. Here are some of his notable achievements:

Azhar represented Pakistan in 97 Test matches and 53 One-Day Internationals (ODIs) from 2010 to 20224. He captained the national team in nine Tests and 31 ODIs4. He scored 7,142 runs in Test cricket at an average of 42.26, including 19 centuries and 35 half-centuries.

His highest score in Test cricket is 302 not out, which he achieved against the West Indies in a day-night Test match in 20164. In ODIs, he scored 1,845 runs at an average of 36.90, including three centuries and 12 half-centuries.

Azhar was a key member of Pakistan’s historic ICC Champions Trophy-winning squad in 2017. He played crucial innings in the semi-final and final, helping Pakistan secure the title.

Domestically, Azhar has played for various teams, including Khan Research Laboratories, Lahore Qalandars, and Somerset4. He has also been involved in coaching and mentoring young cricketers through his cricket academy in Lahore.
