The Afghan Embassy in Islamabad has expressed serious concerns over the alleged harassment and mistreatment of Afghan refugees in Pakistan.
The embassy emphasized that Afghan refugees have consistently refrained from engaging in political activities or criminal incidents. Instead, they have lived peacefully and contributed positively to Pakistan’s economy
The embassy’s statement came in response to recent comments by Pakistan’s Ministry of Interior, which linked Afghan nationals to protests by the Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) and suggested imposing further restrictions on them.
The Afghan Embassy highlighted that Afghan refugees are already facing challenges due to policies introduced by Pakistan’s previous interim government and urged the Pakistani government to avoid creating an atmosphere of mistrust.
