UAE Makes PCC Mandatory for Pakistani Employment Visas

The United Arab Emirates (UAE) has implemented a new requirement for Pakistani citizens applying for employment visas.

Applicants are now required to submit a police character certificate (PCC) along with their visa applications for Pakistani workers seeking for employment visa, this initiative is aimed at addressing concerns from the UAE government regarding illegal activities involving some Pakistani nationals.

Adnan Paracha, Vice Chairman of the Pakistan Overseas Employment Promoters Association (POEPA), noted that this requirement is now essential for those looking for work in the UAE.

Paracha mentioned that there have been complaints about some Pakistanis involved in begging and other illegal activities in the UAE. He stressed the need to comply with UAE laws, especially given the strong and friendly relations between the two nations.

Additionally, UAE has also placed an ‘unannounced’ ban on visit visas for 30 cities in Pakistan. Moreover, over the past year, Pakistanis have encountered significant difficulties in obtaining work visas, leading to more than 100,000 individuals being unable to find employment in the UAE.

Emphasizing the UAE’s role as the second-largest source of remittances for Pakistan after Saudi Arabia, Paracha called on the federal government to enhance diplomatic efforts to tackle work visa issues.
