Salman Khan’s old controversial remarks about the 26/11 Mumbai attacks have resurfaced on social media, sparking a fresh wave of criticism. In a 2010 interview with a Pakistani TV channel, Khan stated that the Pakistani government was not behind the attacks, which many found insensitive and dismissive of the tragedy.
He claimed in that interview the attacks received heightened attention because elite people were targeted and emphasized that the real issue was the failure of Indian security.
As the nation commemorates the 16th anniversary of the attacks, this video has gone viral, leading to widespread trolling and backlash against the actor. Khan had previously apologized for his remarks, stating that his words were twisted out of context and expressing regret for any offense caused.
The 26/11 Mumbai attacks, carried out by 10 terrorists from the Lashkar-e-Taiba group, resulted in the deaths of at least 166 people, including 20 security personnel and 26 foreign nationals, and leftover 300 others injured.
The attacks targeted several high-profile locations in Mumbai, including the Taj Mahal Palace Hotel, Oberoi Trident Hotel, Chhatrapati Shivaji Terminus, Leopold Cafe, Mumbai Chabad House, Nariman House, Cama Hospital, and Metro Cinema.
The resurfacing of Khan’s remarks has reignited discussions about the sensitivity and responsibility of public figures when commenting on such tragic events
