Pakistan and Azerbaijan vow to expand trade ties

Pakistan and Azerbaijan have taken significant steps towards strengthening their bilateral relations, particularly in the areas of trade and investment.

During a recent meeting between Pakistan’s Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif and Azerbaijan’s President Ilham Aliyev, both leaders agreed to increase the volume of their bilateral trade to $2 billion.

This decision was made after discussions about mutually beneficial projects and sectors such as energy, infrastructure, defense, and connectivity.

Azerbaijan’s President highlighted the potential for both countries to collaborate in sectors like renewable energy and defense, which would promote shared economic growth.

Additionally, both countries are exploring the possibility of utilizing Pakistan’s strategic Gwadar port to enhance regional trade, benefiting not just Pakistan and Azerbaijan, but also the wider Central Asian region.

This move comes after several agreements and memorandums of understanding (MoUs) were signed between the two nations.

These agreements aim to boost cooperation in various fields including tourism, law, technology, and culture, further solidifying their friendly ties.

The leaders have also expressed confidence that these steps will pave the way for deeper economic ties and mutual prosperity in the future.
