The Lahore Electric Supply Company (LESCO) recently uncovered significant electricity theft in Lahore, involving two mills. LESCO officials discovered that the owners of a furnace mill in the Shalamar area were stealing electricity by installing a mobile transformer. They have registered a case against the accused and initiated detection bill proceedings.
In a separate incident, LESCO detected large-scale electricity theft from a steel mill in the same area. Both mills have been fined over one billion rupees, and detection bill proceedings are underway. LESCO Chief Shahid Haider emphasized that influential electricity thieves are being caught with the help of Rangers.
The crackdown on electricity theft is part of a broader effort to address illegal activities and improve the electricity supply system. The government is committed to taking strict action against those involved in electricity theft to ensure a fair and efficient distribution of power.
