Pakistan has successfully launched its first home-made Electro-Optical (EO-1) satellite into space. This achievement was made possible by the Space and Upper Atmosphere Research Commission (SUPARCO). The EO-1 satellite was launched from the Jiuquan Satellite Launch Centre in China on January 17, 2025.
The EO-1 satellite has advanced sensors that can take high-quality pictures of the Earth’s surface. These pictures will be used for various purposes, such as monitoring environmental changes, tracking natural disasters, and providing important information about crop health, soil moisture, and weather patterns. This will help improve agricultural productivity and support disaster management efforts.
The satellite will also help in urban development and planning by tracking infrastructure growth and managing urban sprawl. Additionally, it will assist in monitoring and conserving natural resources, such as minerals, oil, and gas fields, as well as glaciers and water resources.
The launch of the EO-1 satellite is a significant milestone in Pakistan’s space exploration journey and shows the country’s growing capabilities in space technology. It is expected to provide valuable insights across various sectors and contribute to the country’s socio-economic growth.
